RitFit BUFFALO Multifunctional Smith Machine

The RitFit Buffalo has taken beloved elements of existing multifunctional Smith Machines designed for the home gym and refined them with unique, never-before-seen features. Whether you’re looking for more standard free weight exercises capabilities, are in love with all things “Smith Machine” or can’t resist a good cable system, the Buffalo has you covered.

Instead of adopting the standard strategy of making slight, almost unnoticeable updates to existing pieces of equipment, the Buffalo’s new elements add degrees of excitement and functionality to essential training components. These features, combined with easy-to-accommodate dimensions, warrant a long, hard look by anyone in the market for home gym gear.

Free Weight Functionality

Every home gym lifter is going to have different training priorities with some trainees being less interested in certain machine components than others. However, there are few lifters who won’t appreciate the vast number of exercise options and sheer functionality of the Buffalo.

Trainees who appreciate heavy barbell work will likely gravitate to the Buffalo’s free weight promoting features. The most notable inclusions here are the robust J-hooks and the twin safety arms.

The Buffalo’s J-hooks are longer and heavier than those on other racks, creating an additional degree of confidence when re-racking the barbell. Meanwhile, the safety arms extend far enough to facilitate all squatting movements and are easily removed to make additional room for other exercises when not in use.

The smooth-moving landmine attachment is another attachment that barbell enthusiasts will put to regular use. Even those with exceptional range-of-motion capabilities will be able to appreciate the truly multi-dimensional nature of the landmine.

Smith Machine Functionality

Home gym athletes who only want to perform free weight barbell work would probably opt for a dedicated power rack or cage. However, those interested in the Buffalo are likely intrigued by its Smith Machine components and associated capabilities.

Smith Machine bench presses, squats, overhead presses, and bent over rows are all smoothly facilitated by the Buffalo’s 9 bar starting height settings and stability-enhancing safety springs.

Quick release band pegs are present to provide an additional resistance-generating option to all weighted movements, to include Smith Machine exercises. However, the element that really sets the Buffalo apart is the vertical modular attachment.

More ambitious trainees may be satisfied lying on the floor, but for everyone else, only a sturdy weight bench is necessary to enjoy the massive lower body strength-enhancing benefits of the leg press attachment. Its oversized, easy-to-clamp, but overly secure non-slip pad maximizes safety, whether 50-pound or 500-pound leg presses are programmed in the day’s workout.

Cable Pulley System Functionality

Between the free weight and Smith Machine exercises the Buffalo promotes, it’s not difficult for home gym trainees to enjoy comprehensive workouts. No upper body, lower body, or core training regimen is off the table.

Why not take things to the next level and add a cable system to the mix?

The Buffalo’s twin cable systems allow lifters to load weight plates to both sides, with included cable handles supporting common exercises like cable crossovers, cable curls, and cable rows. Of course, the sky is pretty much the limit with cable exercises and lifters can even perform unilateral work by using uneven loads for dual-cable exercises.

Fans of cable work will probably already recognize the potential to perform different iterations of lat pulling work. Athletes can attach the longer lat pulldown bar for full back training or they can use the shorter, low lat bar and footboard for more targeted mid-back work.

Bodyweight Functionality

Most trainees get their hands on a multifunctional Smith Machine because they intend on loading a few plates on and lifting some heavy weights. However, plenty of these lifters also appreciate bodyweight movements, most notably pull-ups and dips. The Buffalo allows lifters to knock out one or ten pull-ups at any given moment and by screwing in a couple of bars to each upright, getting in a set of dips isn’t too hard, either.

Looking more closely at pull-ups, with multiple grip width and hand placement options available, athletes can select the pull-up iteration that is most comfortable to them or that more directly works the muscles they want to target.

Calisthenics bros who want a bit more of a challenge shouldn’t have too much difficulty finding a comfortable bar muscle-up position and gymnastics rings can easily be looped around the Smith Barbell for ring dips or other exercises.

Space-saving Capabilities

For many athletes training at home, finding adequate space to store equipment and to perform various exercises in is a major concern. Every square inch of space counts, making the Buffalo’s barbell holders and plate storage tubes invaluable additions to the machine. Vertically stored bars take up minimal space when not in use and plates stacked directly against the machine allow more easy access and storage.

With an overall weight of close to 480 pounds, there is little need for the stacked weight plates to provide additional stability to the Buffalo; it does a pretty good job of holding up all on its own!

Unparalleled Functionality and Capabilities

RitFit’s Buffalo may not have everything that you could ever want in a piece of home gym equipment…but it’s pretty close.

Home gym athletes who need to get their compound lifts in, whether in the form of free weight barbell exercises or with their Smith Machine counterparts, will be more than satisfied. Trainees who appreciate the variety that cable workouts present will also be more than pleased with what the Buffalo has to offer.

Those who enjoy doing a quick set of pull-ups between exercises, as a warm-up, or during their cool down will have a hard time finding something to complain about the machine. Finally, gear junkies will be lining up to give the vertical modular leg press attachment a test run.

If you’re reading this and fall into any one of the above categories, you owe it to yourself to dig a little deeper into the Buffalo’s back story. It truly is a “cancel your existing gym membership” type of machine.
